Find something that makes you happy and use it to make others happy...

I read that quote floating around the web one day and realized that is exactly why I love photography. I don't do this for a paycheck, I do it because I love it and I love that it makes others happy.  I love that I can engineer a portrait, an image, a moment in time that someone will hang on the wall of their home and think of why that moment makes them happy.

I'm a daughter, a wife, a mother and originally from Virginia.  I moved to Pennsylvania with my husband - almost exactly halfway between our two childhood homes.  We laughed when we realized we were living on a famous boundary line dividing the north and the south, the Mason Dixon Line.  To us, it's our middle ground - our home.  Ironic?  We know. But, love brought us here - and we love it here.  The area is full of rich history, beautiful scenery and lots of the magical, glistening light I love to chase.

So, why did I start a blog?  A sweet Golden Retriever named Ripken who was once full of energy and never slowed down.  No matter how many times I tried, I could not capture a good photo of her with my point-and-shoot cameras.  So, I got a new camera and I taught myself how to use it.  Armed with a bit of knowledge from high school photography class (black + white film photography) and lot of motivation I figured out how to meter light, the right shutter speed to freeze my puppy mid-flip and that I truly love natural light far more than indoor light.  Slowly, family and friends and friends of friends started asking for photos.  A blog seemed like the easiest way to share.

Simply put - this photo blog is a digital scrapbook of all the things I love...families, home, friends.  I hope you'll visit often.
